post-season 4 antics w/jen
[ It's going to take Trevor some time to recover from his wounds and the journey back to the castle. Alucard has given him and Sypha a room in said castle while the village is built up around it and he spends most of his time resting, at the insistence of his very bossy partner. He doesn't complain or argue, for once. Not about having to keep up his strength or to help the villagers -- he's genuinely very run down and knows that in this case, with the injuries he's sustained, he needs to heal before anything else can happen.
He wakes up late in the morning to the sound of thunder, and a glance out the window tells him that the storm approaching will halt construction for the day. Which means Sypha should be coming back soon enough. She's left him breakfast, though, on a tray on her side of the bed. Trevor picks at it while he waits for the rain and his magician, leaning back against the headboard.
When she does come in it's after the weather has officially turned, and her hair and clothes are wet and drooping. He smiles at her, pushing himself up out of bed with only a small wince. ]
Need some help getting out of that?

She finds that she loves these projects, loves this feeling of building up a home.
Right now, home is a warm room in the castle where the man she loves waits for her with a smile she would never have thought he was capable of when they first met. ]
That's not the first time you've used that line. [ Not that she's saying no. She sheds her soaking wet shawl, still clad in trousers borrowed from Greta and a shirt in speaker blue that are all but plastered to her body from the rain. ]

[ He comes over, reaching up with one hand to rake her wet hair out of her face for her, twirling a usually-flippy bit around his finger. The other settles on her waist, his thumb peeking under the hem of her shirt to stroke the soft skin beneath. ]
Worked rather well, actually.
no subject
[ Perhaps a bit too well, if one examines the evidence. And she doesn't bother to move away, instead relishing the warmth of his hands after her run through the rain. ]
Maybe you can help to... warm me up?
[ She leans into his touch, smiling as she, very sneakily, presses her own icy cold hands to bare skin of his back.
This is the woman you love, Trevor. An imp with frozen fingers. ]

[ Trevor continues to look quite smug as he reaches to pull her shirt up for her when she scoots in closer -- until she sets her half-frozen hands against his bare skin. He yelps, not pulling away or swatting at her because he did just promise to warm her up, but shuddering at the cold. ]
You have terrible circulation, woman!

[ Laughter bubbles up as she pulls her hands away just so she can strip off her shirt completely, dropping it to the floor with a wet thump in lieu of an apology. ]
If you want I can go change all on my own, no more cold hands on you...
no subject
[ Instead of retreating he takes those cold hands of hers in his own in answer, wrapping his fingers around hers to warm them a bit. ]
This is my fate.
no subject
[ She pressed a kiss to his knuckles, strong hands that have killed so many monsters and still manage to hold onto her so carefully. ]
How are you feeling? I didn't want to wake you up this morning when you were sleeping so peacefully.
no subject
[ He draws her hands to his mouth next, kissing hers in turn, and smiles again as he considers the question. Takes a quick assessment of himself. ]
There's still some pain, but better. Each day is better.
[ Especially now that he's back with her. ]
no subject
[ The world had seemed so bleak in that week when she thought she was alone. Alone with nothing except a baby she had not planned for and the expectation she would never see Trevor again. ]
I think another week and you'll be fully healed. And then don't think we won't put you to work building everything up.
no subject
[ He lets go of her hands and kneels as she speaks, to help her off with her borrowed trousers. ]
I'd welcome being put to work. Have to build my strength back somehow, now don't I? Besides... the people here...
[ It's a sense of community he hasn't had since he lost his family. He doesn't know how to say that aloud. That maybe they can settle. Raise their child here. ]
no subject
I know what you mean. I'm going to try and send word to my people, tell them to come settle here. If anywhere would welcome a permanent caravan of Speakers it would be here.
[ She misses her family, her grandfather, but she doesn't intend to walk away from all of this. Their family is here. Their people are here and their history is here. What better place to have a life together? ]
I was actually thinking about something else, as well...
no subject
Oh? What's that?
no subject
[ The thought has been bouncing around her head for a while now. And now, standing in their bedroom in only her underclothes it seems as good a time as ever.
Certainly it seems in character for how they tend to do things. ]
You could become Trevor Belnades, it has quite the ring to it, you know?
no subject
Sypha, are you proposing?
[ A slow smile spreads across his face. ]
If I wasn't the last Belmont, perhaps. Or... I suppose this is, now.
[ He presses his hand over her belly, where inside they've created a new life. It's kind of amazing, considering how many times his testicles have been assaulted. ]
But yes, we should get married. I hear it's the thing to do when you love someone as much as I love you.
no subject
[ Their child is a miracle, something created in the midst of the chaos of the last several weeks when even the slightest mistake could have changed things.
Those words. Those simple words always send a giddy little thrill through her. If she never memorizes another thing in her life except the sound of Trevor telling her he loves her it will be well worth it. ]
I love you, too. And I want to marry you, preferably before I end up as big as a barge.
no subject
There must be someone in the village who can do it before you start to show. Though I think you'll be even more beautiful once you do.
no subject
[ She loves this man so much her heart feels ready to burst. Every scarred up, foul mouthed inch of him was made for her and she will never stop being grateful to have him back. ]
Maybe we can have Alucard do it. I would rather have him than a priest any day.
no subject
[ As for the priest... ]
I've been excommunicated anyway, and you're a Speaker magician. I doubt the Church would recognize our union.
no subject
[ Let's not forget that incredibly important detail. She slides her arms around him, hands finally warm as Sypha holds on tightly. This is home, this man and this room and the baby growing inside of her. ]
Speaker weddings are much simpler. We have a ceremony where we say our vows and then there is a party that lasts as long as the local towns tolerate us.
no subject
[ Genuinely. Trevor can't remember the last time he was at a party, and he'll have to take care not to get so drunk that they can't enjoy themselves in other ways, but. He's finding he's excited for this already. To stand up and tell everyone how much he loves her, and celebrate with the community they're helping to build. ]
Come, let's warm you up properly, and you can tell me all about what a nightmare you're going to become soon.
no subject
For the moment she's happy with pulling Trevor back towards the bed, the blanket sliding down off her shoulder as she sits down on the edge of it. ]
And how are you planning to warm me up, hm?
