I won't defend his behavior. Believe me that I find it upsetting for several reasons, and he's going to have to face consequences whenever he tires of his own dramatics enough to return. But I'm only bothering at all because I don't believe he's hopeless.
That said, protect yourself from his mistreatment however you feel is necessary. Is there anything I can do for you?
