[ Keeping his word, Alucard had kept himself busy in the kitchen while he waited for Trevor to return. Sypha was out, he'd not asked when she'd be back, but he made enough food for her all the same.
Currently drying his hands on a kitchen towel and pouring himself a glass of wine, it was always nice to have a little drink when cooking. The Dhampir looked very domesticated and quite at home in the kitchen, hair pulled back in a loose, low ponytail, sleeves rolled up, and flour fingerprints on the sides of his trousers. ]
[ Trevor's been working a fair bit more since Oswald's departure, but luckily tonight isn't an event night at the arena. He isn't needed later than usual and can smell from the moment he opens the apartment for that Alucard did in fact make them all dinner. Of the three of them he's by far the best cook, and Trevor feels his stomach rumble in anticipation as he hangs up his coat and heads into the kitchen. ]
[ He felt a little guilty from time to time, not working and bringing anything home for the three of them, but what he lacked job-wise, he made up for with the odd jobs around the house.
Yes, as it happens, the Dhampir was a dab hand at not only cooking and cleaning but he'd often mend clothing and tend to the few plants he'd collected from the gardens for them.
Today however he'd been slogging away over a homemade Wellington, the scrap pastry cutoffs were even made into individual small tarts for later. ]
You're earlier than I expect. Clearly I wasn't busy enough.
[ Alucard joked, setting his wine down as he made is way over to greet Trevor with a surprise kiss to his cheek. ]
[ There's a great deal of value in those skills, especially living with two people who've never really kept house. Gruff as he is Trevor does try to thank Alucard for what he does around the apartment, and his cooking is an easy enough thing to praise.
He smiles at Alucard as the other man meets him halfway and leans in to kiss him on the cheek -- unexpected, but certainly welcome. In return he reaches up to tuck a loose strand of blond hair back behind Alucard's ear affectionately. ]
There's no rush to anything. And Sypha will be at least another hour, I figure... it'll give us a chance to talk.
[ It's strange for Alucard, whereas he enjoys the domestic role he easily falls into, he's never had to do it for two other people before. Not that he's going to stop mind you, he strongly believes that both Trevor and Sypha deserve a little tender loving care.
Smiling softly as his hair is tucked behind a pointed ear, closing his eyes for a moment, just enjoying the small subtleness of shared affection. ]
Ah yes, I thought I'd gotten away with that, you're not going to let it go unspoken about, are you?
[ Smirking a little with a shake of his head before turning back around to place Sypha's Wellington in the fridge to rest. ]
[ They all contribute in different ways, that's all. Just as when they fight together their skills are varied but complementary, they fill different roles here that seem to be fitting together just as well. Mostly, anyway. There's still that tension between Alucard and Sypha that has to break on its own -- it's not Trevor's place to push them, eager as he is for the dynamic to settle into something more balanced.
His hand drops as Alucard turns and opens the fridge, a small furrow appearing in his brow. ]
'Gotten away with' it? You act as if I'm scolding you -- you'd prefer I just pretend nothing happened? That your being wronged doesn't matter? I'm not angry at you but because I care about you, which I thought had been made quite clear by now.
[ It's true, they really did compliment each other nicely, no matter the situation. The three of them, each as different as the other and yet similar deep down in their cores. The tension with Trevor was easier to break, being physical with him came more naturally, Alucard was still unsure if Sypha even saw him like that, last he remembered she was falling for Trevor. Not that he could pass comment on that, after all, wasn't he falling for the Hunter too?
Standing, facing the fridge as he closed the door to it, shoulders dropping slightly at Trevor's comments. ]
No, I'm not asking you to pretend or ignore it but honestly, Trevor, what can we do about it?
[ Turning to face him again, setting his hands upon his hips as he tossed Trevor an apologetic sort of look. ]
I know you care, I don't think I deserve it sometimes, but I know you do regardless. What they did to me was meant to open my eyes so to speak. Teach me a lesson if you will, nothing more.
Just because the past can't be changed doesn't make my feelings unproductive. They still serve a purpose here. I'm sorry if you don't have a middle ground between either wallowing or ignoring your traumas but that's where I prefer to exist.
[ He huffs a little, genuinely trying to shake off the aura of grumpiness so it doesn't color his words. ]
Tying you naked to a bed with silver chain is not an acceptable teaching method even if your life wasn't in danger. It's cruelty.
[ Alucard could see Trevor was trying not to be too grumpy with him, and it was appreciated. It's all about giving and taking, isn't it? He needs to talk about things he'd otherwise push deeper inside. He owes Trevor that much. ]
Trevor...
[ A smile pulled at his lips, seeing how clearly angered and upset for him the Belmont was, he was touched by it. And so, stepped closer, setting a hand upon Trevor's stubble-covered cheek. ]
I know, it was rather cruel, all things considered. But I'm alright. I'm already healing, look.
[ With his other hand, he opened his shirt, letting Trevor see the faint marks left behind. ]
[ Trevor is visibly pacified by Alucard's agreement, but the contact is what ultimately smooths his brow. He doesn't need a replay of the event or anything, just wanted the other man to agree that it's terrible -- as much for his own well being as Trevor's. And acknowledge that his protectiveness is meaningful even if there's nothing they can do. For what it represents. ]
...does it still hurt?
[ He reaches up, fingertips brushing the skin of Alucard's chest just beside one of the marks. ]
[ Alucard just finds it hard to get used to, the idea of someone else actually giving a damn about him. No, not just anyone but Trevor Belmont. The Hunter who helped the Scholar wake him, the man who helped him kill Dracula. Of course, he cared. ]
A little. It's easier now though... When you touch it.
[ Setting his hand upon Trevor's, guiding it across one of the sore marks left behind by the silver. His head tipped down, strands of pale golden hair falling to curtain his face. ]
[ Oh? Trevor lets Alucard guide his touch, settling his hand flat against the other man's skin for more contact. He isn't sure he believes this helps the sting at all -- the opposite seems far more likely, but that doesn't mean it isn't in an enjoyable way. ]
Is that so? Then it would be cruel of me in turn to deny you relief.
[ Shifting a half step closer he brings his other hand up too, this caress beginning low on Alucard's stomach and moving up toward his flank. ]
[ He'd be wrong then. Despite touching the burnt marks left behind by the silver rope, the touch of Trevor's hand soothed him all the same. It might have been all in his head, as there was nothing healing about Trevor's touch, not technically, but the kindness and care behind it meant something more. ]
It would be awfully cruel of you, yes.
[ Trying not to smile too much, Alucard leans into Trevor's hands. Inhaling as those big strong hands smoothed across him, swallowing before talking again as he took one of those hands and moved it up, slowly until it was set against his chest. ]
Here.
[ Tilting his head as he said it, letting Trevor feel his slow beating heart. ]
